ARCHITECTURE STUDIO 2
PROJECT 1| Famous People, Familiar Faces, and Diagrammatic Abstraction
The first project to begin our semester, in a group of 5, we are given a name of an architect and we have to study about him and his work. From the informations that we gather, we are assigned to create a video to explain our understanding about him. In this project, me and my friends learn the life of Carlo Scarpa, one of architects that is famous of his detail work.
after understand an architect and factors that affect their work, we are assigned to choose one of their work to be studied. After our study of Scarpa, we were interested on Brion's Cemetery, but due to the limitation of resources, we change the architect to study into Rick Joy, and the building that we study and generate the diagrammatic abstraction is called Tubac House.
Next assignment is called diagrammatic abstraction, where we have to create the abstraction of the respective building and build 5 conceptual model based on the built building.
PROJECT 2| Site and User Analysis
In the second and also last project, which is a very big project, it is divided into 3 parts. First, we went to Pantai Kerachut, Penang to do our site analysis and to interview the user of the structure will be design in the place.
Above are the photogrpahs of nature that will be the inspiration of generating concept and design the coming assignments.
After we understand the site and the user, with the inspiration of nature, in a group of 2 we are assigned to design a coastal guard tower.
generated from nature, we designed a humble structre with a repetitive element to the building. Above are the progress and design that we came up before we come with the final design.
The last and the final project i have in Studio 2, still using the same site with the same user, we are asked to design a retreat house for the rangers. A house they can use to get a rest and socialize. This time, i am working individually. Still sticking with the same repetitive element and humble minimalist design, i come up with my final design.
